It’s been almost three months since I posted on social media, sent an email, or wrote a blog.
That little inner voice kept whispering:
“You’re falling behind.”
“You haven’t done anything for the business.”
“You should be doing more.”
“You’ve lost momentum.”
It’s the kind of thinking that can spiral fast especially for high achievers.
But here’s what I’ve learned: who you surround yourself with matters.
I was lucky to be challenged on that thinking.
To slow down.
To ask a better question: Where’s the evidence?
So I looked at what I’d actually been doing these past few months:
1. I completed my intensive ICF ACC coach training
2. I built and launched a brand-new website for The Career Success Lab
3. I hosted my entire family — parents, siblings, nieces, nephews to celebrate my son and nephew’s graduation. Lifelong memories made.
4. I supported my son as he starts his new job… and now we’re apartment-hunting in California (and yes it feels very weird that he’s the one paying now!)
5. I had meaningful consult calls with clients and continued laying the groundwork for the next phase of my business
None of these things were part of a “flawless business strategy.”
None of them showed up as a perfect funnel or polished launch.
And yet — they were everything.
They were progress.
They were real life.
They were the foundation for what comes next.
The False Story I Was Telling Myself
When you’re used to measuring success by output — posts, products, sales, visibility — stillness can feel like failure.
I told myself:
Because I wasn’t producing, I wasn’t progressing.
Because I wasn’t launching, I wasn’t building.
Because I wasn’t marketing, I wasn’t working.
But that story wasn’t true.
And honestly? It never is.
Here’s the Truth
Some seasons are for planting.
Some are for harvesting.
Some are for being seen.
And some are for showing up quietly for your family, your values, or the version of yourself you’re becoming.
This was a season of quiet growth:
Rebuilding foundations
Restoring energy
Strengthening my craft and credentials
Celebrating a milestone with the people I love most
I used to discount seasons like this.
Now I’m asking: How can I be more intentional about them?
Because now I know:
What looks like “pause” from the outside is often progress from the inside.
What This Means for You
If you’ve been feeling stuck…
If your inner critic has been loud…
If you’ve looked around and thought, “Everyone else is doing so much more,” I want to offer you this:
Ask for evidence.
What have you been holding? Building? Navigating?
What quiet, invisible progress have you made that you haven’t even acknowledged?
Don’t let output define your worth.
Don’t let visibility be your only measure of value.
Some of the most important work won’t show up on a checklist — but it will shape your future.
What’s Next
I’m here. And re-energized.
You’ll be hearing more from me in the coming weeks — new tools, new insights, and new ways to lead your career more strategically.
But for today, I just want to say this:
If it feels like you’re not doing enough…
Ask for evidence.
You might find you’ve already come further than you realized.
And if you’re in a season like this and want a strategic sounding board?
That’s exactly what I help my clients with.
Book a strategy call if you’re ready to lead your next chapter with intention
Here’s to the quiet wins that matter.
